About Us

Thames Valley Deerstalkers Club (TVDA) formed as a club 54 years ago and is right in the heartland of renowned game bird hunting real estate... the Hauraki Plains.

TVDA is situated in Paeroa at the base of the picturesque Coromandel Peninsula; the rolling slopes, valleys and wooded areas provide for an unlimited array of targets that will produce outstanding shooting for the 2011 world champs event. In recent years, Thames Valley Deerstalkers have regularly hosted National events, as well as the FITASC Oceania Championships in 2006. We pride ourselves on the many varied aspects of hunting and shooting that are offered to our members, as well as to sporting fraternities within New Zealand and from abroad.

Initially the club was formed with predominately returned soldiers who enjoyed the passion and challenges of deerstalking in the great outdoors of New Zealand – a legacy that a huge number of people in this country still enjoy and thrive on today.  With the club growing in strength and the need for additional challenges, the club was soon to encompass other outdoor disciplines, and clay target shooting was one of these.

TVDA became involved in particularly sporting clay shooting approx 25 years ago and the ensuing development of the club has been strongly focused around this sport ever since.  The amazing terrain and unlimited target options are a field setters dream so it is with a huge amount of pride as a club, that we offer our grounds for this world championship clay shooting event in 2011.

As well as our own grounds, the impressive clubrooms are set with a delightful backdrop of indigenous native bush that hums with the sounds of birdlife also offering million dollar views over the surrounding countryside.  With members having hunted all over New Zealand and around the world, record book quality trophies, from particularly Africa, adorn the walls and make for a wonderful atmosphere.

Thames Valley Deerstalkers offers both members and visitors the opportunity to assist with the many challenges of hunting all forms of game, from deer, tahr, chamois, and pigs, through to game birds and small game animals that are found the length and breadth of this glorious country, often referred to as 'gods own'.

We welcome all visitors to our club as we plan this very prestigious event in 2011 – the World English Sporting Championships. We look forward to being your hosts and can assure you that your time here at the event, and possibly holidaying around New Zealand, will see you taking a wealth of special memories back home with you.
