WESC 2011 - Event Location
The World English Sporting Championships 2011 event will be held in New Zealand at the extremely picturesque grounds of the Thames Valley Deerstalkers Association, only 2kms from the township of Paeroa, affectionately known as the "Gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula". In this world reknown Coromandel region there is a huge amount of NZ History, from adapting the huge wetland plains to top producing farmland, gold mining and Kauri tree milling.
The Thames Valley Deerstalkers Association shooting grounds include three neighbouring properties with undulating terrain that gives brilliant target setting options befitting a World Championship event. These properties together offer such excellent terrain variations that it is essential they be incorporated into the layout design. Coupled with the magnificent shooting options are the unlimited panoramic views of the beautiful Hauraki Plains and out to the Firth of Thames. This is one of the leading international sporting clays venues in the Southern Hemisphere. (See the Location Gallery page for images of the event area.)
TVDA also have impressive clubrooms which are set with a delightful backdrop of indigenous native bush that hums with the sounds of birdlife, also offering million dollar views over the surrounding countryside. Record book quality trophies, particularly from Africa, adorn the walls and make for a wonderful atmosphere.
The WESC event is being hosted from 4 – 6 February, which also makes for the most amazing time to be holidaying in New Zealand – with beautiful warm temperatures around the mid 20 degrees Celsius, calm mild evenings and amazing scenery and beaches all easily within minutes or less than an hours drive of the venue. (See the Attractions page for more information on what the area has to offer.)
